Lesson on the Brain and Relaxation

The lesson for class on Thursday and Friday (September 5 & 6) began with a sound meditation followed by a written reflection on the same. Students then downloaded the 3D Brain app on their iPads. Using this app and three handouts (OneTwo, and Three), students worked cooperatively in groups of three to complete an Brain Power Activity relating to the brain, three of its structures and functions. To reinforce and extend learning from the lesson on stress and to make an experiential connection with the lesson on the brain, student explored two relaxation techniques: deep breathing and the relaxation response. Finally, students selected FIVE Stress Management Techniques to actively pursue.
