Lesson on Emotional Awareness

Class on Friday and Monday (Jan 31 and Feb 3) began with a “Minute to Win it” exercise – listing as many ‘feeling words’ as they can in one minute. Students watching a video of a dance/art performance – first without sound and then with sound. Students use a ‘silent chalk talk’ routine to reflect on  to explore emotions and message expressed in this video. We also discussed how anger is considered to be a secondary emotion and the importance of building emotions vocabulary. Next, students work on an activity identifying times when they might have experienced a few specific emotions. Finally, students worked on a feelings/emotions reflection (document is in your health folder in google drive).
